Howard and Harden expected to lead Rockets towards a playoff push this season…
Having won the Slam Dunk Contest back in 2008, there has been significant talk of Howard taking part in the contest again, but he has declined.
However, for those that might doubt whether or not he is still capable of pulling off some big throwdowns, he shared some of his work on Instagram as he gears up for the new season.
With all the NBA teams expected to return to training camps next week ahead of the start of the new season in late October, Howard will be hoping for a successful season ahead.
It remains to be seen how far the Rockets can go after losing Jeremy Lin and Chandler Parsons this off-season, and after missing out on Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony in free agency, they are undoubtedly weaker than they would have liked.
Nevertheless, having brought in Trevor Ariza and and Jason Terry to add experience to a young roster, they are confident that they have the pieces in place for coach Kevin McHale to succeed.
