Spurs players see championship banner raised at AT&T Center…
The San Antonio Spurs received their 2013/14 championship rings on opening night on Tuesday as they prepare to defend their title this season.
Following on from their 4-1 NBA Finals triumph over the Miami Heat last season, the Spurs saw their championship banner raised to the rafters of the AT&T Center on Tuesday night ahead of their clash with the Dallas Mavericks.
The likes of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan all collected their rings while Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard received a particularly loud reception from the San Antonio faithful after his inspirational performances in the playoffs.
Leonard was ruled out of the game against the Mavs with an eye infection while Patty Mills is still recovering from shoulder surgery this past summer.
The Spurs remain amongst the favourites for the championship this season and they will be extra motivated in their attempt to secure back-to-back titles for the first time in the organisation’s history.
