Surrey-based outfit in confident mood ahead of upcoming campaign.
McLaren have launched their new MP4-28 car for the upcoming F1 season at their Woking HQ.
The sleek, ultra-modern confines of the McLaren Technology Center in Woking provided a suitably dramatic backdrop for the launch of the British marquee’s latest challenger on Thursday – the MP4-28.
Drivers Jenson Button and Sergio Perez unveiled the new machine McLaren hope will offer them a return to World Championship glory and both drivers were speaking confidently ahead of the challenge ahead.
There are still British Grand Prix tickets available for this summer’s F1 race at Silverstone.
“‘Checo’ obviously hasn’t driven the car yet in reality but he will have equal treatment to me and I am happy about that because the guy is quick and, as you said, he is fighting for the World Championship as well,” said Button.
“So I think it is unfair that everything is aimed at one driver rather than two. He (Perez) should have fair treatment – like I had when I got here.”
“We all want to succeed here and if we do well then it will be to win the Championship, that is the target for everybody. I am not coming here to win races, I think the target has to be bigger because when you see the amount of work that the people in this building put into the car in every single day of their lives … everybody is working for that target, not to score some good points or to win races – but to win the Championship.”
