Argentinian thanks supporters and can’t wait to get started with new club.
Napoli presented new signing Gonzalo Higuain to their supporters ahead of their 3-1 friendly win over Galatasaray on Monday night.
The former Real Madrid striker was unable to take part in the game due to a delay in the international clearance of his move, but was unveiled alongside the club’s summer signings prior to kick-off.
Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis directed proceedings, first welcoming on new coach Rafa Benitez before the players joined him on the pitch with Marek Hamsik displaying the new camouflage third kit.
However, the player that most had come to see was given an impressive ovation as he entered the pitch, with De Laurentiis explaining how the move was completed before handing over the microphone to the 25-year-old.
“I am very happy to be here, and I hope to do important things. There is a strong team and a great crowd,” he told the supporters as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport before taking his place on the stage.
Goals from Goran Pandev, Juan Zuniga and Lorenzo Insigne secured victory for the Partenopei, but the Napoli supporters will undoubtedly be looking forward to seeing Higuain in action at the Emirates Cup later this week.
