Magpies’ finals hopes take a hit while boosting those of the new boys.
A masterclass by Gary Ablett has seen the Gold Coast Suns secure one of the biggest wins in the club’s short history, after they beat the Collingwood Magpies by seven points.
Ablett was superb for the victors and again rubber-stamped his reputation as the best player in the game, after racking up 49 touches and two goals to lead his team to victory.
The on-baller also won 10 clearances for the Suns as they ran out deserving 13.7 (85) to 11.12 (78) victors after leading at every change.
Gold Coast will try and keep their finals hopes alive when they play the Carlton Blues at home next weekend, while the Magpies will be keen to bounce back to winning form, when they tackle the winless Greater Western Sydney Giants at the MCG.
