Dockers have too much firepower for Demons in lop-sided AFL clash.
The Fremantle Dockers have tightened their grip on a place in the AFL top four after thumping the Melbourne Demons by 95 points at the MCG.
Freo simple had too many weapons and more to play for as they continued the season of woe for the Demons, who slumped to the 20.13 (133) to 5.8 (38) loss.
It is the 11th loss for Melbourne by 10 goals or more, as they continue to struggle to compete against any side in even the more rudimentary of elements of the game.
The win was soured for the Dockers after Hayden Ballantyne, who kicked four goals for the game, came off the ground late in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury which could keep him out of Fremantle’s clash with Port Adelaide.
For Melbourne and their fans, the season will mercifully come to an end in two weeks, with a trip to Adelaide to take on the Crows before a game with the Western Bulldogs Etihad Stadium signals the end of another disappointing year.
