Cats left to re-group after being beaten at home in qualifying final.
After resting many of his top names for the last round plenty were questioning Fremantle coach Ross Lyon’s selection methods.
But all of those questions were put to rest as the Dockers pulled out a gripping upset 15-point victory over the Geelong Cats at Simonds Stadium.
Cats’ fans were left to wonder where the aura of their home ground went as they watched their side butcher what little possession they had in a tight and thrilling final quarter.
The win was an impressive one for the Dockers who are well-placed to move through to the grand final with victory giving them the week off.
Geelong will need to regroup quickly from the 12.15 (87) to 9.18 (72) loss as they play the winner of the Collingwood-Port Adelaide, when they face them at home in the west next weekend.
