Goetze sparkles as champions turn in five-star display.
Champions Borussia Dortmund were in imperious form as they destroyed Werder Bremen 5-0 on their Bundesliga travels.
Marco Reus opened the scoring with a ninth-minute free kick, before reported Arsenal summer target Mario Goetze doubled Dortmund’s lead in the 18th minute with a deflected strike, and it was 3-0 shortly after the break – Felipe Santana headed in Reus’ corner.
Dortmund added two more goals in the final ten minutes, Robert Lewandowski turned in a cross from fellow Polish international Lukasz Piszczek.
Piszczek then set up another compatriot, Jakub Blaszczykowski, in the 85th minute as Dortmund eased to a 5-0 win.
That win put the pressure on second-placed Bayer Leverkusen up against fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt.
Two goals in two minutes from Sebastian Boenisch and Stefan Kiessling gave Sami Hyypia’s side the advantage, and Andre Schurrle made it 3-0 after the break.
Alexander Meier pulled one back for Frankfurt, but Leverkusen held out for the 3-1 win.
Leaders Bayern Munich needed a win to keep themselves comfortably in first place, and a Mario Mandzukic double was enough to see them past bottom club Greuther Furth.
And Schalke played out a cracker in a 5-4 win over Hannover.
