Aussie opener sets the Rose Bowl on fire to help his side to a first-up win.

Aaron Finch has almost single-handily guided Australia to victory in the first Twenty20 clash of the series against England, blasting 156 from just 63 balls.

The Aussie opener’s stunning knock helped propel his side to a 39-run win, the first victory for Australia in any form of international cricket in 200 days.

Victory for Australia helped boost morale after their 3-0 Ashes drubbing at the hands of the Three Lions, with the home side simply having no answer for Finch.

The Victorian belted an incredible 14 sixes and 11 boundaries to easily pass Brendon McCullum previous international high mark of 123 on the way to becoming the first Australian to score a T20 international ton.

As a result Australia finished on 249, with England putting up a good fight to fall short on 209-6, with Joe Root making an excellent unbeaten 90 off 49 balls.
