San Francisco 49ers pair sweat on signing of new contracts at Levi’s Stadium.
San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis has spent the offseason seeking a contract extension, and he is expected to head into training camp without a new deal if the 49ers continue to not comply with his demands.
It will prove difficult for him to maintain leverage since the 49ers are reportedly not willing to negotiate. They are threatening to fine him $30,000 for each day he does not show up to training camp, but he may not show up right away if the 49ers do not pay him what he wants.
Davis enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career in 2013 by finishing with 52 receptions and 850 receiving yards while tying a career high in touchdown receptions with 13.
Guard Alex Boone is also holding out as he hopes to sign a new contract with the 49ers. However, reports state that there is no way Boone will enter training camp without a new contract.
The 49ers have less than two weeks until their first day of training camp, which falls on July 24.
