Former Chelsea and Spurs star piles pressure on Wenger.
Brighton boss Gus Poyet has declared that he is after the Arsenal hot-seat according to The Daily Star.
The former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder has enjoyed a successful spell on the South Coast, guiding the Seagulls up to eight place in the Championship as they look to break into the play-off spots.
Poyet’s side host the Gunners at the Falmer Stadium on Saturday for their FA Cup 4th round clash with the North London club eager to register a win after a poor run of results.
Losses to Manchester City and Chelsea have seen Arsene Wenger’s men begin to slip away in the race for the Champions League spots and with Liverpool providing Arsenal’s next opposition in the league, the Gunners will be keen to return to London with their place in the next round safely booked.
Poyet has not ruled out taking charge at the Emirates were they to decide to dispense with the services of Wenger.
‘I want to manage at the highest level and would love to manage Chelsea and Arsenal. Why not? Does my Chelsea or Tottenham past mean I cannot be Arsenal manager?’ said Poyet.
It remains to be seen however how the Emirates faithful would take to someone who was such an iconic player at two of their closest rivals being put in charge of the club.
