Spurs quoted huge price for young Baggies star.
West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine has told all potential suitors, including Tottenham Hotspur, that they must pay £15million if they want to sign star striker Saido Berahino, the Daily Mirror reports.
England U21 striker Berahino has been in superb form this term for the Baggies with five Premier League goals already.
The 21-year-old has been tipped to make his debut with the senior England side soon and Spurs have been the side most heavily linked with making a move for his signature.
But Irvine has warned the Londoners that he will not be coming cheap.
“I wouldn’t want to lose him but if he keeps on making the progress he is making then we will probably lose him one day,” he said.
“I would be absolutely astonished if anyone could sign Saido from us for £15m – Ross McCormack went for £11m, Championship to Championship [moving from Leeds to Fulham].
“£15m doesn’t sound like a lot of money for a talented, young, English player with great potential who is playing really, really well in the Premier League at the moment and who is scoring goals.
“It would have to be higher than that.
“If I was working at any of the top Premier League clubs I would probably be saying: ‘we better have a look and see what this young lad is doing at West Brom because he seems to be scoring a load of goals’.
“But it certainly doesn’t mean we need to sell.
“I am desperate for him to play really well and if that means that other clubs come and start knocking on the door then the club will make a decision on whether these clubs are making the right kind of offers or not.
“If Gareth Bale can be prised away from Tottenham I think it means every player has got his price.
“Right now Saido’s value to this club is going up in every way, financially but obviously as a player on the pitch at this particular time.”
