Spurs make late bid for Internacional star Damiao.
Tottenham have made a £16m deadline day bid for long-term target Leandro Damiao, according to Goal.com.
fanatix tickets – Barclays Premier League tickets are still available for this weekend’s games.
West Brom vs Spurs tickets are on sale from £15 for this Sunday’s match at the Hawthorns.
Spurs have been tracking the Internacional striker for over two years, since signing a strategic partnership with the Brazilian club in 2010.
But the North London outfit have consistently failed to agree a deal with Inter for the powerful 23-year-old, who finished top scorer in last summer’s London Olympics, as Brazil claimed the Silver Medal.
Club sources described the deal as ‘very difficult’ due to the player’s third-party ownership rights but Spurs have been in negotiations with Inter for the past 48 hours and are hopeful of completing the deal before the 11pm transfer deadline.
Thirty percent of the Brazil striker is reportedly owned by third-parties.
Damiao, who has 14 caps for Brazil, is expected to lead the line for the Selecao at the 2014 World Cup and is said to be interested in a move to White Hart Lane.
Sources on twitter have claimed that Spurs have a medical and administrative team in Brazil, ready to travel to Porto Alegre should Inter accept their bid.
Both Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and head-coach Andre Villas-Boas are thought to be huge fans of the striker and, with Jermain Defoe carrying a hip injury and Emmanuel Adebayor set for a prolonged spell at the African Cup of Nations, the dup have decided to act.
