FC Barcelona striker David Villa subject of transfer interest from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
David Villa says he is considering his future at FC Barcelona, with Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Liverpool all interested in signing him, according to Catalan publication El9.
The Spain striker, who is the record goalscorer in his country’s history, was close to a move to the Gunners in the January transfer window, but it appears that north London rivals Spurs now lead the race to sign Villa.
El9 state that Tottenham are offering the most money of the three interested clubs, with a 15 million Euro bid on the cards, and that manager Andre Villas-Boas has already convinced Villa to come to White Hart Lane.
However, whilst Liverpool stand little chance of signing Villa, Arsenal could yet gazump Spurs due to their participation in the UEFA Champions League.
“I have another year of contract and today I am a Barca player,” said Villa whilst on international duty with Spain.
“After the Confederations Cup I will sit down and analyze everything.
“For now, I’m happy to be in the best club in the world.
“I have a contract with them and after my holiday I will see see what happens.”
Villa scored 11 goals and supplied six assists in his 22 starts for Barcelona last season, despite an injury disrupted campaign, and has proven himself one of the greatest strikers in the world over the last few years.
He would be a brilliant asset to any of the three English clubs, but the decision on his future likely rests in the hands of the player.
El9 conclude that an exit is likely due to Barcelona’s massive acquisition of Brazilian star Neymar from Santos FC.
