North Londoners desperate to bring Willian to the Lane in January.
Tottenham Hotspur maybe about to reignite their longstanding interest in Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker Willian, according to reports in the Metro.
The North London outfit have been pursuing the Brazil international since last summer, however, Spurs have been thwarted in their attempts to lure the highly-talented player to White Hart Lane by his employers, who have as yet been unwilling to allow the 24-year-old to leave the club.
That situation has now changed though with the arrival of Willian’s compatriot Taison, who has joined Shakhtar Donetsk on a five-year deal from fellow Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv for £12 million, meaning that Willian could now surplus to requirements in Donetsk.
Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas has been keeping a close eye on Willian ever since his time in charge of Chelsea, where he first attempted to sign the winger back in January 2012, before also then making an inquiry for the player when he moved across London to Spurs last summer, only to yet again be rebuffed by Shakhtar.
But, Villas-Boas’s long-running interest in Willian has not gone unnoticed by the player himself, who recently spoke about how the Portuguese coach has remained in contact with him during this season, and now Tottenham fans will hope that will prove decisive in their bid to sign the £20m-rated attacker in the January transfer window.
