Spurs favourites to land Atletico Mineiro starlet Bernard Duarte.
Tottenham are the ‘only contenders’ to sign Brazil international Bernard Duarte, according to the player’s agent.
The Atletico Mineiro starlet looks set to leave his homeland this summer, with Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas said to be keen to land the playmaker.
Atletico’s president claimed on Monday that an unnamed English club – believed to be Spurs – had had an €18m bid for Bernard rejected and said Primera Liga outfit Porto had entered the race for the 20-year-old.
Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with the youngster, who is currently on international duty at the Confederations Cup.
But Bernard’s agent, Hiss Moyses, has set the record straight and says the north London outfit are the only club pursuing the talented playmaker.
“Dortmund have not submitted a proposal and Tottenham are the only contenders,” agent Moyses told O Jogo.
Any deal for Bernard will have to wait however. The young trickster has publicly stated that he will not leave Atletico until after their Copa Libertadores campaign, with a two-legged tie against Agrentina’s Newell’s Old Boys set to take place in July.
