Gomis is enjoying a fine season with Lyon, who are due to face Spurs in the Europa League round of 32 next month, and has netted 12 goals in 23 games.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas wants to bolster his strike-force this month, with Emmanuel Adebayor currently at the African Cup of Nations and Jermain Defoe struggling with fitness.
Gomis, who has two caps for France, could be available for just £8m and his asking-price is likely to keep falling as the transfer deadline approaches.
Spurs have also been linked with Celtic’s Gary Hooper, Alvaro Negredo of Sevilla and Internacional striker Leandro Damiao.
