The North London club have been keeping close tabs on the Englishman for some time now, and even sent scouts to watch the player in action last Tuesday night when the Glasgow giants thrashed Dundee United 4-0.
However, Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas knows that he faces stiff competition to land the striker from the Cannaries, who have already had one offer of £5 million plus forward Steve Morrison rejected by Celtic, who value the attacker at nearer the £7m mark.
What has impressed Villas-Boas the most has been Hooper’s performances for Celtic in this season’s Champions League, where the one-time Scunthorpe United player has shone against the likes of European heavyweights Barcelona, Benfica and Spartak Moscow.
And, it is believed that should Spurs return with an offer nearer Celtic’s asking price, then they will allow them to open talks with the 24-year-old, with a view to Hooper making the move down south before the end of the January transfer window.
