QPR facing competition from Spurs for Frenchman’s signature.
Tottenham are considering a bid for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila after learning that Brazilian enforcer Sandro will not play again this season, fanatix has learnt.
M’Vila is currently considering a £70,000 per week offer from Premier League basement club QPR but it is understood that the Frenchman favours a move to White Hart Lane.
Spurs were interested in M’Vila over the summer but could not agree a fee with Rennes. The Ligue 1 outfit have significantly lowered their asking-price however, and it is believed that QPR have agreed a fee of just £8m for the powerful player.
Tottenham head-coach Andre Villas-Boas was dealt a massive blow on Wednesday after Sandro was ruled out for the remainder of the season following knee surgery.
The 22-year-old, who has started every one of Spurs’ 22 league games thus far, fell awkwardly in Spurs’ 0-0 draw at QPR on Saturday.
Although Scott Parker is now fit, Villas-Boas is keen to boost his midfield options in Sandro’s absence and has also asked chairman Daniel Levy to bring forward the deal to sign Schalke Lewis Holtby, who was originally set to arrive at White Hart Lane in the summer.
Levy is reluctant to match QPR’s wage offer and has concerns about M’Vila’s off-field attitude but the chairman is understood to regard £8m as a good price for the 22-year-old, who has 22 caps for France.
The tough-tackling youngster has endured a miserable six months at Rennes, losing his place in the club’s first-team before being banned from international football until 2014, after breaking curfew whilst on under-21 duty.
