The five Chelsea players who have created the most chances for the Blues so far in the Barclays Premier League this season.
Chelsea are many pundits’ favourite tip for the 2013-14 Barclays Premier League title, with Jose Mourinho’s side looking increasingly ominous in their pursuit of the trophy.
The Portuguese boss won the Premier League in the opening season of his first stint at Stamford Bridge, and thanks to an attacking line which is gradually becoming more cohesive and fluid, the Blues are the team to beat – even if they are currently two points off leaders Arsenal at the top of the table.
Chelsea have created the joint fourth most chances in the English top flight – alongside the Gunners – and some players have been particularly incisive in the final third.
Here are the Blues’ top five.
5. Juan Mata (9 chances created)
That Juan Mata has created the fifth most chances in the Chelsea squad is testament to his exceptional eye for a pass.
The Spain international was dropped for almost a month by Blues boss Mourinho due to his lack of defensive discipline, but there are few better at spotting gaps between the lines, and with Mata the positives certainly outweigh the negatives.
Mourinho couldn’t keep him out the first team for long.
