The top five players performing great defensive work in the Gunners side, helping the Arsenal side to the top of the Premier League ahead of their Emirates Stadium clash with Liverpool.
Arsenal are top of the Barclays Premier League with nine games played, and a large part of that is down to the tenacity shown by a number of the Gunners’ squad.
The north London side press when not in possession, and the desire to win the ball back has been a big influence in their progress this season.
The top five players who have epitomised that facet of the Gunners’ game are below, with the caveat that they must have played in at least five matches to qualify.
5. Carl Jenkinson (1.5 tackles per game)
Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson may have had a poor Capital One Cup clash against Chelsea, with his poor header setting up Cesar Azpilicueta to score the opening goal for the Blues, but he is developing into a promising defender.
Still just 21 years of age, Jenkinson may not be ready to be the Gunners’ first choice right back, but has shown that he is a capable deputy when Bacary Sagna is unavailable.
Given time, he will continue to grow.
