After bizarrely threatening to play for the New York Yankees if the Colts did not trade him, John Elway went on to forge one of the best careers ever for the Broncos and in the NFL.
Mobile on his feet and blessed with a cannon for an arm, Elway threw for 51,475 yards and more than 300 touchdowns, with 3407 yards rushing rounding out his portfolio.
After losing his first three Super Bowls, Elway showed his mental strength to win his final two before retiring at the oldest play at 38 to win the last game of the season.
