Youngster offered chance of a lifetime.
West Ham have offered one fan and his family the chance to watch an upcoming match in the Director’s Box after the youngster was filmed in tears during yesterday’s 5-0 drubbing at Nottingham Forest.
The young supporter was shown crying in the City Ground away end during ITV’s live coverage of the FA Cup third round clash, in which Forest thrashed a dismal and experimental Hammers’ side.
In a beautiful PR stunt, a statement on West Ham’s official website said ‘the Board, manager and captain’ would like to offer the ‘tearful young man’ the chance to visit the Boleyn Ground.
“Sunday afternoon’s defeat at Nottingham Forest was tough for all to take, but particularly for one tearful young man in the away end,” read the statement.
“Everyone at West Ham United shares this young man’s disappointment and are grateful for the large numbers of fans that made the trip to the City Ground.
“To show the Club’s appreciation for the travelling Claret and Blue army, the Board, manager and captain would like to offer this young fan and his family a chance to watch an upcoming fixture at the Boleyn Ground from the Directors’ Box.”
West Ham asked the youngster, or anyone who knows his identity, to make himself known to media@westhamunited.co.uk.
