Defender goes to Instagram to challenge Chelsea’s failure to offer new deal.Former England Captain John Terry has taken the unusual step of posting on Instagram to express his dismay at the failure of his club Chelsea to offer team-mate Frank Lampard a new deal, according to The Independent.
The centre-back, currently sidelined with injury, was responding to reports from Italy reportedly quoting Lampard’s agent Steve Kutner as confirming the player would leave the London club in the summer. Terry did not appear pleased to hear suggestions the former West Ham midfielder might be moving to Italian giants Inter Milan or Lazio.
Posting a picture of him and Lampard holding aloft the FA cup together, Terry commented ‘Devastated is an understatement. We should retire the number 8 shirt in honour of Lamps. #theheartbeat #hero #legend #hero #goalmachine #friend #ktbffh (keep the blue flag flying high) #cfc #chelsea’.
Chelsea’s failure to offer Lampard a new deal has puzzled many this season and should he leave the club there will be no shortage of suitors ready to reward him handsomely for his services.
PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti is a known fan of the player having coached him during his time at Stamford Bridge while LA Galaxy are looking for a marquee signing following the departure of Lampard’s fellow England midfielder David Beckham.
Manchester United have even been linked with an audacious double swoop for both Lampard and team-mate Ashley Cole.
This is merely adding to the bewilderment of many Chelsea fans who are struggling to understand why the club is seemingly prepared to lose two players often considered amongst the best in the world for nothing.
