Sydney Swans ruckman Mike Pyke has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2016 AFL season.
The Swans put talks with players on hold earlier this season while the future of the controversial Cost of Living Allowance was determined, with the AFL making the call to phase it out.
However, the Canadian said he never contemplated moving to a rival AFL club.
“It was never a possibility of going elsewhere,” Pyke told AFL.com.au on Tuesday.
“It’s just a matter sometimes of a negotiation really.
“Sometimes it takes time. I think losing COLA threw a big spanner in the works, so that changed a lot of things in terms of planning for the club.
“That was the biggest element, things got stalled because of that.”
The news comes as a major boost for the Swans as they head into their massive Grand Final clash with the Hawks on Saturday.
