The chairman agrees with Laudrup that Michu is worth a bundle.
Only four months into Michu’s first season with Swansea City, manager Michael Laudrup claimed that the Spaniard was worth £30m.
The attacking midfielder finished that first campaign with 22 goals in all competitions and was widely regarded as the bargain of the year, having cost Laudrup just £2.2m from Rayo Vallecano.
In light of Michu’s first call-up to the Spain national team by Vicente Del Bosque, Swans chairman Huw Jenkins now agrees with that valuation of the Dane.
“We’ve seen with Tottenham and Gareth Bale that every player has a price. We are not in that bracket with Tottenham but they sold a top player. We are realistic about that side of things,” Jenkins was quoted by the Daily Express.
“I would say Michael was about right with his valuation of Michu if you look at the current market, but this call-up enhances that further.
“We know we have a very talented player and naturally we want to keep him.”
Arsenal have been looking into the possibility of bringing Michu to the Emirates Stadium, as the forward continues the great attacking form from last term with five goals already this season.
However, Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the 27-year-old as they prepare for the very realistic possibility of losing Luis Suarez in the near future.
Yet with Swansea putting such a hefty price tag on the attacker, both may be warded off and be looking into slightly cheaper options.
