Saints set to secure deal for Molde defender.
Southampton are set to complete the signing of Molde’s Vegard Forren according to talkSPORT.
The Norwegian club have accepted a bid from the South-coast club for the player, and his agent is in London to meet with club’s representatives and discuss terms.
The news will come as a blow to Liverpool, who had invited the Norway star for a trial at Anfield, but it appears Nigel Adkin’s side greater conviction has persuaded Forren his future lies at the St. Mary’s Stadium.
Former Manchester United legend and current Molde manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed the club had accepted a bid for the player who has also been linked with Everton and Reading in recent weeks.
‘There have been many inquiries from various English clubs, but Southampton submitted an offer. It was very interesting for us and Vegard. We are more or less agreed with the club, but nothing is a hundred per cent confirmed.’
‘Molde is close to a deal, so we’ll see if this is something that all parties go with.’
Southampton will be hoping Forren is able to help them shore up on the leakiest defences in the league as they look to rise up the table and steer clear of the relegation zone.
They currently sit in 15th, two points clear of the relegation zone but with a game in hand.
