Snoop Dogg has been given the prestigious Icon prize at this weekend's BMI Urban Music Awards.
The awards took place in Hollywood on Saturday night. The smash hit rapper was awarded the BMI Icon status for his contributions to the genre. Death Row Records founder Dr Dre gave the award, and Snoop Dogg thanked him and fellow Death Row Records head Marion "Suge" Knight Jr. Accepting the award, he said: "We built Death Row, we built a sound and you can't take that away. And I'm thankful to both of them because wasn't nobody from Long Beach rapping then. But I can do 20 more years of this. It ain't over yet."
The rapper is to embark on a four-date UK tour this October.

Liverpool, Echo Arena - October 6th
London, O2 Arena - October 7th
Cardiff, Motorpoint Arena - October 8th
Glasgow, SECC - October 9th
