The former England international has been at Anfield for his entire career so far, and has previously turned down chances to join the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid to remain with his boyhood club.
However, Gerrard is in the final year of his contract now and, at the age of 34, may not be offered a renewal as he heads towards the end of his career.
Still, instead of retiring, Gerrard may look to play elsewhere, saying: “I’m only contracted until May. As it stands, I’m here until the end of the season and want to make the most of it.
“I certainly won’t be retiring this summer. I will play beyond this season. We’ll have to wait and see if that’s at Liverpool or somewhere else.
“That’s Liverpool’s decision. If they don’t come then I will see what’s out there.”
