Manchester United’s hopes of signing Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos remain alive.
Ramos, 29, has two years left to run on his contract with the La Liga giants, but both parties are keen for a new deal to be discussed.
However, according to The Independent, no agreement is close as Ramos is demanding £135,000 a week – a wage Real do not want to give him.
United would be willing to pay that sort of money for an experienced player who would sure up Louis van Gaal’s backline, while it is understood that Ramos would welcome a move to Old Trafford.
The only thing standing in the way of what could be the transfer of the summer is Real’s reluctance to sell.
However, if United stand firm on their David de Gea stance, Real may be forced to sacrifice Ramos in order to sign their top goalkeeper target.
