Quigg saw his efforts to force a fight with rival Carl Frampton fail earlier this year, and so he has looked elsewhere for his big summer fight.
That search has taken him to Martinez, with the Spaniard previously losing twice to Frampton which in turn provides Quigg with a test of his own.
The 26-year-old will be under pressure to produce a better performance than his domestic rival, and if he is able to put on a show it will certainly get the attention of the other top fighters in the division.
However, this is a tough, tough fight for the Bury native, as Martinez is a former European and World champion that can be a real threat in the ring.
Quigg will need to be smart and box him rather than meet him and engage in a slugfest, but many expect him to stick to the script and do what he usually does.
That could make this fight closer than it ought to be, but it will certainly be entertaining to watch for fans both in Manchester and those watching at home.
Prediction: Quigg to win on points. If this is a war, it could be a tough night for the home fighter. However, expect him to eventually wear his rival down and just about get the nod on the cards.
The fighters are expected to ring walk at around 21:30.
