It’s a battle of Manchester on Saturday night as Anthony Crolla will be hoping to move closer to a world title shot when he faces John Murray in one of the most eagerly anticipated fights this year.
Having got the better of the likes of Derry Mathews and Gavin Rees, Crolla is expected to continue his ascent up the WBO rankings and earn a shot on the world stage.
The 27-year-old Mancunian will face a resurgent Murray as they split opinion and support in Manchester this weekend, with Murray hoping to reignite his own world title ambitions.
While Crolla is arguably the favourite ahead of this bout, the expectations are high as this fight promises to be a real battle between two domestic stars as Murray continues his comeback after a two-year absence following his defeat to Brandon Rios in 2011.
With so much to look forward to in the near future, neither man will be wanting to let this opportunity slip out of their grasp as Manchester eagerly awaits these two lightweights heading into the ring to go to war.
Elsewhere on the bill, Scott Quigg is in action and will make a third defence of his WBA title against former champion Tshifhiwa Munyai.
Munyai is a late replacement for Nehomar Cermeno after the Venezuelan withdrew due to visa issues, but having lost just twice in his 27-fight career, the South African will undoubtedly be a tough test for Quigg and he will have to guard against complacency.
