Torres on fire for a rampant Blues side…
01 Cech – 7
– Made smart saves in the first half, but enjoyed a relativly trouble fee night in Germany
02 Ivanovic – 6
– Played at left-back, but did admirably. Is probably Mourinho’s first-choice defender.
28 Azpilicueta – 6
Came in due to Ashley Cole’s injury, and made one brilliant last ditch block in the second-half. Also provided Torres with the opener.
24 Cahill – 7
Showed why Mourinho might favour him to David Luiz in big games. Was completely solid throughout.
26 Terry – 7
Seems to enjoy playing alongside an English centre-back. Terry was a defensive rock all evening, and nullified any Schalke threat from set-pieces.
08 Lampard – 6
Lampard was quiet, but provided an experienced head in the middle of the park and helped them retain posession when under pressure – in the first-half particularly.
07 Ramires – 8
Worked ferociously hard when the Blues were not on the ball, doing the running that his partner Lampard is no longer capable of. Also provided Hazard with a sumptuous pass for the final goal.
17 Hazard (Eto’o – 88′ ) – 7
The silky Belgian polished off a strong performance with a break away goal late on, and he has now bagged three in two.
11 Oscar (David Luiz – 83′ ) – 8
Assisted Torres fantastically for the Spaniard’s second, which virtually killed the game – and did his defensive job from here on after.
14 Schürrle (Mikel – 72′ ) – 7
Showed everyone why Mourinho included him over Juan Mata, and was Chelsea’s strongest attacking force in the first-half especially.
09 Torres – 9
A brilliant, clinical performance from the much maligned Spaniard. Bagged a brace, and even made Hazard’s third with an impressive run off the ball.
