Revis tells Sherman to ‘sit down’ as he claims the Seahawks CB needs to stop running his mouth. It’s the off-season, players need a way to kill the boredom that surrounds them until mini-camps start in April.
It seems New York Jets cornerback Darelle Revis isn’t too concerned with his uncertain future at the team, and has instead launched a bizarre attack on Richard Sherman over Twitter.
The tweets were put on display in an article on NFL.com, and it seems that Revis is unhappy that Sherman is consistently ‘running his mouth’.
While the 27 year-old is widely considered the best cornerback in the league, it was Sherman who had the stellar 2012 season. With Revis injured, the self-proclaimed ‘Optimus Prime’ produced a season which included eight interceptions, three forced fumbles and a sack.
For a someone that is only in his second year in the league, the 24 year-old has never been shy towards other players.
After the Seahawks beat the New England Patriots last season, Sherman confronted New England Quarterback Tom Brady and gloated about the victory in his face, later tweeting a picture of the incident with the words ‘U MAD BRO?’ over the top.
Currently, the former fifth round draft pick has the performances to back up his words, but it won’t last forever and he needs to know where to draw the line with his ‘smack talk’.
When a player as well-respected as Revis is telling you to calm down and stop being a big mouth, the player in question should listen, but with this player in question being Richard Sherman, that’s unlikely to happen.
As the war of words came to an end, Revis told Sherman that he should instead be watching out for Roddy White. The Seattle player last week said that the Atlanta Falcons receiver was just a product of the system, despite being ripped to pieces by the wide-out during the playoff game between the two,
Sherman has a great future in the league, but first he needs to have a few more successful seasons under his belt before he can start making big claims like he has during recent weeks.
