QPR boss eager to see Ryan Nelsen stay.
Harry Redknapp is set to try and persuade QPR captain to stay at the club, according to The Guardian.
The 35-year old is reported to have agreed a deal to become MLS club Toronto FC’s new manager.
Nelsen would move during the current transfer window as Toronto are keen for him to be in place by the time the new MLS season starts on the 2nd March.
However Redknapp is determined to persuade the New Zealand international to reconsider.
The former Spurs boss sees Nelsen as an integral part of his team, as seen by his decision to make Nelsen captain following his arrival at the end of last year.
QPR are currently bottom of the Premier League, and Redknapp is aware of the importance of holding onto his best players if the London club are to have any chance of performing what would be a miraculous escape and beat relegation come the end of the season.
Redknapp knows Nelsen’s capabilities well after bringing the former Blackburn defender to White Hart Lane during his time as Tottenham boss.
A number of defenders have been linked with QPR in recent weeks should Redknapp fail to persuade Nelsen to remain at Loftus Road, including West Brom captain Jonas Olsson and Tottenham’s French veteran William Gallas.
