Spanish centre-back doesn’t understand why Ozil was sold…
Real Madrid’s brilliant Spanish centre-half Sergio Ramos doesn’t understand why his club have sold Mesut Ozil to Arsenal, reports the Mirror.
The Gunners completed a £42m deal for the 24-year-old German playmaker late yesterday evening, with only an hour left until the transfer window slammed shut.
The monster deal is the most expensive import into the Premier League ever, and Arsenal fans are delighted after watching their side struggle to bring in any established internationals throughout the entirety of the summer.
Like the delighted Gunners fans, 27-year-old Ramos believes Arsenal have got themselves a wonderful player, and if it were up to him, he would never have let the mercurial playmaker join the Premier League side.
“It’s obvious that he is a special teammate and friend,” said Ramos.
“I’ve always had a real ‘feeling’ with him, and it’s a shame. He’s a great footballer, unique.
“Everyone is free to choose the best for themselves, but if I were to decide what was happening at Madrid he would be one of the last who would be going.”
Many believe Ozil was allowed to leave to make room in the squad for the incoming Gareth Bale, who cost the La Liga runners up a world-record £85m. Arsenal took advantage of Ozil’s discontent, and beat off competition from huge spending French side PSG to secure his signature.
