Bale set to become the world’s most expensive player.
Real Madrid are close to completing a world-record deal for Tottenham’s Gareth Bale, according to well-respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Los Blancos will reportedly pay £93m for the Welshman, 24, with left-back Fabio Coentrao moving to White Hart Lane as part of the deal.
Di Marzio is unsure whether the Portuguese international’s involvement in the bid will see the amount Real pay in cash reduced, however.
Spurs, meanwhile, are reportedly closing in on the signing of Brazilian midfielder Willian from Anzi Makhachkala for around £30m, while Roma’s Argentinian winger Erik Lamela has also been linked with a move to White Hart Lane.
