Jay-Z set for agent role but the rapper is still due to tour the UK later this year.
In the biggest merge of the musical and sporting worlds since Elton John became Watford chairman, rapper and legend Jay-Z is set to become an agent in Major League Baseball (MLB), the NBA…while the NFL could soon follow suit.
In dramatic news, the ’99 Problems’ artist confirmed he wanted to take a more ‘active role’ in ‘off the field’ activities and he could now set to be involved in player trades across the major US sports.
“At this point in my career, I am ready to take a more active role in my endeavors on and off the field. I am confident that the pairing of Roc Nation Sports and CAA Sports will be essential in helping me accomplish my short- and long-term goals,” Jay-Z told the NY Daily News.
The rapper’s agency, Roc Nation Sports, has already signed Yankees star Robinson Cano after the baseball star ditched Scott Boras as his agent in April.
Cano said he liked “everything” the musician’s new organisation had to offer.
Even though Jay-Z has now officially been approved as an agent, fans of the rapper’s music should not fear. Beyonce’s husband is still set for his Autumn Tour of the UK, with Jay-Z tickets officially going on sale on 19 July.
