Ralph Waters is named new World Cup chairman following the death of James Strong.
Cricket Australia and Cricket New Zealand have named Ralph Waters as the new World Cup chairman ahead of the tournament in 2015.
Former chairman James Strong died on 4 March following complications after surgery. Strong was a businessman and previously chairman of many organisations, including Woolworths and the Insurance Australia Group, before taking his position on the World Cup board.
Waters was Strong’s deputy chairman and like his predecessor is a prominent businessman, based in New Zealand.
“Like myself James had lived and worked in Australia and New Zealand and was determined to put on a truly world class tournament in 2015,” the new chairman said on Global Post.
“I share his vision and will work closely with the ICC, Cricket Australia and Cricket New Zealand to deliver a successful tournament.”
The World Cup will take place in Australia and New Zealand between February and March in 2015.
