PSG’s French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye claims he wish Newcastle had let let him join Arsenal when the Premier League giants bid for his services, Goal reports.
The Gunners made an offer for him in the final days of last summer’s transfer window, but Newcastle described it as derisory, with Magpies boss Alan Pardew especially annoyed by the fact the bid was made just before his side had a match to play.
“I would have liked to play for Wenger last summer but, unfortunately, it didn’t happen,” Cabaye told French publication Telefoot.
The 28-year-old midfielder was eventually allowed to leave St James’ Park though, and signed for mega rich PSG this January. However, he’s only been given two Ligue 1 starts so far, and one in the Champions League, struggling to dislodge Blaise Matuidi and Thiago from the starting XI.
