Thiago Silva’s representative sends out message to Vilanova.
Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Thiago Silva has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona and the player’s agent has spoken out stating manager Tito Vilanova should make a bid.
Paulo Tonetto has said that if the Barca boss is truly interested in his client then he should put his money where his mouth is.
“It has been said that Tito really wants to sign him and if that’s the case, someone should speak up,” Tonetto was quoted on Sky Sports.
“If someone wants to buy someone, it’s not going to happen while they’re sitting at home watching TV.”
It’s thought that Vilanova sees Silva as a long-term replacement for veteran defender Carles Puyol – who at 35 is certainly approaching the end of his time at the Nou Camp.
The Catalans have experimented with Javier Mascherano and Adriano at the back, but really need an out-and-out centre-half to partner Gerard Pique.
However, it would take a colossal bid from Barca to tempt PSG into selling their star defender, as the Ligue 1 champions shelled out £37m to AC Milan for the Brazilian less than 12 months ago.
Therefore the Parisians will be wanting the make the vast majority of that money back on the resale of the 28-year-old; if they can be tempted into parting with Silva at all that is.
Silva rose to world-class fame following three successful seasons with Milan between 2009 and 2012 and the defender was recently a key part of the Brazil team that won the Confederations Cup, beating world champions Spain 3-0 in the final.
