Qatari-backed club willing to fight for signature of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Paris St Germain are ready to battle it out for Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo, according to The London Evening Standard.
The French club are one of the world’s biggest spenders since being bought by a Qatari-backed consortium and have lavished huge fees on the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Should Ronaldo become available, the Ligue 1 side are reportedly prepared to dip into their pockets once more in an attempt to bring the player to Parc des Princes.
The Portuguese star, who once again finished second to Argentina and Barcelona star Lionel Messi in this year’s Ballon d’Or, is reportedly unsettled at Real Madrid after reports emerged of player feeling unvalued by the Spanish club.
Ronaldo is reportedly unhappy with his contract which, while not insubstantial is dwarfed by the kind of salaries currently received by the likes of Samuel Eto’o at Anzhi or Yaya Toure at Manchester City.
PSG are one of a limited number of clubs who can provide Ronaldo with a salary to match the kind of money being given to those players.
‘Paris St Germain have become a club where anything is possible’ said Leonardo, the club’s Sporting Director.
‘When we are discussing a possible transfer for a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, there are only four or five clubs that can be taken into consideration. PSG are one of those.’
