Blanc has suggested the French champions could save the Spaniard from a Blues nightmare.
Chelsea star Juan Mata has not enjoyed the most fruitful of seasons at Stamford Bridge since the return of Jose Mourinho as manager and now Paris Saint-Germain want to sign the midfielder, reports Sport24.
The 25-year-old has been on the periphery of the Blues first team under Mourinho despite the fact the Spain international has been considered the club’s best player for the past two years.
The boss prefers to play Oscar in Mata’s position behind the striker and as such the attacking midfielder has either had to to operate out wide or watch from the bench.
This has led to much speculation about the Spaniard’s future in west London and PSG have been strongly linked, even trying to prise the midfield ace away in the summer.
Now Laurent Blanc has hinted that the French champions and current Ligue 1 leaders still remain in the hunt.
“You speak of Mata because he never plays,” was how the PSG boss responded when asked if the club were interested in signing the player.
“If you must strengthen, especially in terms of quality, this is a player who you can count on for all competitions.”
Blanc is clearly a fan of Mata’s, although may be put off by the fact that having played under Mourinho in the Champions League the midfielder could not then feature for PSG this season.
However, if the Spanish star does not start getting the game time with Chelsea then no one could resent the player for leaving.
