Juventus playmaker would welcome Lampard at Turin.
Juventus’ bearded midfielder Andrea Pirlo is the latest person to have offered his opinion on the Frank Lampard contract saga.
The Italian international has reportedly claimed Chelsea would be foolish to let a player of Lampard’s quality leave for nothing, according to FOX Sports.
Lampard has been linked with a number of Italian clubs in recent week, including Inter Milan and Lazio, and Pirlo has moved to say he welcome the arrival of the player at Juventus.
‘They would be mad to let him leave Chelsea. He’s still one of the best in the world. If he wants to play in Italy I would welcome him to Juventus with open arms. Lampard could have another four years at the top in Italy.’
Pirlo himself is no spring chicken but is remains of Juventus’ key players. It may well be that Lampard, 34, fancies a move to Serie A where their slower brand of football would reduce the impact of any loss of speed.
A number of commentators have expressed their bewilderment at Chelsea’s stance in recent weeks but the player’s agent recently confirmed that the club have told him that there will be no new contract offer for a player who has made 576 appearances for the London club.
