Gunners skipper backs his side to go into Blues clash looking for blood.
Stand in Arsenal captain has talked up his sides’s chances ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea by insisting that the Gunners can indeed come out on top, the Daily Star reports.
The Gunners travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday with vengeance on the mind following last season’s 6-0 drubbing at the hands of the Blues.
Arsene Wenger’s side go into Sunday’s match full of confidence following their 4-1 victory over Galatasaray last night, which saw new signing Danny Welbeck grab his first senior hat-trick.
And Mertesacker said after the game; “Obviously it’s [beating Galatasaray] a good lift [before the Chelsea game].
“We’ve got good confidence at the moment and will try and implement that into the game on Sunday.
“We know we can do better than the two consecutive seasons [there] before and I think we’ll try new things on Sunday to get a better result than last year.”
