New England stars’ playing status for week five remains up in the air.
New England Patriots stars Rob Gronkowski (back/forearm) and Danny Amendola continue to reside on the questionable list ahead of their side’s game against Cincinnati this weekend.
For the third week in a row the pair have been mooted to make their season debuts only to be spectators from the sideline.
Despite their absence the Patriots are off to a perfect 4-0 start to the season, despite not playing at their best as the team’s offence has struggled for its usual fluidity under the guidance of Tom Brady.
Ahead of their game against the Bengals, Amendola’s body language was more positive than Gronkowski’s of playing saying: “Had a good day today,” Amendola said. “Had a good practice, ran around, made some plays and looking forward to Sunday, so we’ll see.”
The Patriots will be without running back Stevan Ridley after he failed to practice all week due to a knee injury sustained last weekend.
However, it is not clear when Ridley suffered the blow as his numbers suggested he was fit the entire game as he rushed for 53 yards on 11 carries at an average of 4.8 against Atlanta.
With Brandon Boldon (knee) and Leon Washington (thigh) also in doubt to play, New England might be forced to turn to veteran LeGarrette Blount as their starter.
Blount stood up when it counter in his side’s even-point win over the Hawks in week four, earning 64 yards on just nine carries for an average of 7.1 with a touchdown rounding out his stat line.
