Cue Card has to pull out of the race.
The 8-1 fourth favourite to win the Gold Cup at the 2014 Cheltenham Festival – Cue Card – has been pulled out by trainer Colin Tizzard due to injury.
“Unfortunately he has pulled muscles behind and he won’t be running at the Cheltenham Festival. We first noticed it last week,” Tizzard was quoted by the Guardian.
“It was only a small thing then and it is only small now, but we cantered him this morning and he is still not right.
“He hasn’t got any better and you can’t be going to Cheltenham 90%. The horse has looked after me for the last four years and it is my turn to look after him now.
“He’s been so good to me and he’s not going to be ready for the Festival.”
This news means that Last Instalment has had his odds cut to 5-1 ahead of the biggest event in the National Hurdle calendar, whilst reigning champions Bobs Worth remains the favourite.

It is disappointment for those involved with Cue Card, as the chaser was in line for a good festival having won the Champion Bumper in 2010 and the Ryanair Chase last year.
The horse also won the Betfair Chase at Haydock and came second in the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.
Cue Card should be fit to race in the Grand National at Aintree in April however.
