North Melbourne overcame the Western Bulldogs by 29 points in a low-scoring clash before coming alive in the fourth quarter at Docklands on Sunday night.
In a match which saw both teams share four goals in the first half, North ultimately won out 12.11 (83) to 8.6 (54).
In a low-scoring affair, the Kangaroos led by 11 points after blanking the Bulldogs and kicking two goals in the first quarter.
Fortunes were reversed in the second period when the Bulldogs goaled twice, keeping North to just three behinds.
The third quarter was a comparative goal-fest as the Kangaroos pushed off with four majors to the Bulldogs’ three to lead by 10 heading into the final stanza.
The final quarter was a much more scintillating affair, as North triumphed after kicking six goals to three in a shoot-out.
Brent Harvey led the scoring charts with three goals for the Kangaroos, while Nick Dal Santo chipped in with 32 possessions.
Luke Dahlhaus, Robert Murphy and Liam Picken all registered 25 disposals for the Bulldogs.
