North Melbourne is hopeful it can retain midfielder Levi Greenwood in the coming days as rival clubs circle around the uncontracted player.
Greenwood had a standout 2014 season, and is reportedly being chased by both Collingwood and Richmond.
Kangaroos football manager Geoff Walsh said the club would continue talks with Greenwood’s management to get the contract signed.
“We don’t feel we’re far away, but we understand the competitive tension in the market while he remains officially uncommitted,” Walsh said.
“Hopefully in the next 48-72 hours we get to a stage where we talk with (Greenwood’s manager) Liam Pickering again, and are we able to come to terms with their requirements and where we feel we can go.
“We will endeavour to keep working on that and hopefully by the time the weekend unfolds we’ve got a position.”
Earlier today, the Kangaroos confirmed the capture of free agent Jarrad Waite on a two-year deal.
