Texas Tech defensive back Nigel Bethel II has been reinstated by the Red Raiders football program, and he will be suspended for the first three games.
Defensive back Nigel Bethel II, who was dismissed by the Texas Tech football program, was reinstated by the team. Bethel was kicked out of the program for punching Amber Battle, the leading scorer on the Red Raiders’ women’s basketball team.
Although Bethel punched Battle, the basketball star admitted that she was also at fault for the incident. She was suspended from the basketball team for a month, and Bethel will be suspended from Red Raiders football for the first three games of the season.
Bethel made a statement that was released by Texas Tech after he was reinstated. “I am thankful for the opportunity to come back to Texas Tech,” Bethel said. “I want to thank Amber Battle for accepting my apology and for coming forward to say that I deserve a second chance.”
